The investigation process begins by locating the diagnosed individual’s residence and testing their family members. Additionally, health officials are examining locations the infected person frequented, including the school, workplace, and church. This thorough approach helps ensure the safety of students and staff.

If left untreated, TB can result in severe health complications, including damage to vital organs.
Health officials have assured the community that there is no risk of further exposure from this specific case within the school environment. In Tulsa, there are typically around 69 cases of TB reported annually. The previous year saw a total of 10,347 TB cases nationwide, with 64 cases reported specifically in Oklahoma.
To assist those potentially exposed, the THD is offering free TB testing sessions on July 23 and July 25, located at the North Regional Health and Wellness Center in Tulsa. Testing will be available from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with results provided on designated follow-up days depending on the testing date.
Community members who believe they may have been exposed to TB, or who have questions about the situation, are encouraged to contact the THD at 918-582-9355 for more information or guidance on screening procedures.
