Brewster, Washington – Gamble Sands Resort is set to unveil its highly anticipated second 18-hole golf course, named Scarecrow, on August 1, 2025. The new course promises to elevate the golfing experience at the resort, which already boasts the acclaimed Gamble Sands Course.

Golf enthusiasts interested in experiencing Scarecrow can begin booking tee times at www.gamblesands.com. Designed by notable golf course architect David McLay Kidd, with assistance from Nick Schaan, Scarecrow spans approximately 300 acres of rolling terrain previously used for cornfields. The course offers stunning views of the Columbia River Valley and the Gebbers family orchards, providing a picturesque backdrop for players.

Scarecrow features a par of 71 and stretches to 6,900 yards, utilizing fine fescue turf to create firm and fast playing surfaces. Golfers will begin their round with a downhill par 4 that features a blind tee shot, and the course will conclude with a drivable par 4 situated on a cliff-edge green.

This new course incorporates a variety of creative features that aim to challenge and engage players. These include speed slots, boomerangs, angles, slopes, several reachable par 5s, five unique par 3s, and various demanding par 4s. McLay Kidd describes Scarecrow as a ‘twisted sister’ to the original Gamble Sands Course, combining the fun elements known at Gamble Sands while introducing new, inventive concepts.

Preliminary reviews from testers have been overwhelmingly positive, with many players expressing their enjoyment of the new layout and its distinct characteristics. The addition of Scarecrow complements Gamble Sands’ already impressive offerings, which now includes 50 holes of golf that feature two championship courses designed by McLay Kidd and a 14-hole short course known as Quicksands.

In preparation for the opening of Scarecrow, Gamble Sands has also enhanced its accommodations. In June 2025, the resort opened 40 new double-king golf-view rooms at The Inn at Gamble Sands, bringing the total number of luxury rooms to 77. These new rooms come equipped with a variety of modern amenities, including walk-in showers, large screen televisions, mini fridges, coffee makers, and private patios, ensuring a comfortable stay for guests.

Guests residing in the new golf-view rooms will also benefit from access to a new putting green, allowing them to refine their game during their stay. Gamble Sands features a comprehensive array of facilities, including a 100,000-square-foot Cascades Putting Course, multiple dining options, a complete practice facility, and a well-stocked golf shop.

The original Gamble Sands Course continues to uphold a stellar reputation in the golfing community, ranking No. 14 on GOLF Magazine’s “Top 100 Courses You Can Play” list, making it one of the premier golf courses in the United States.

Gamble Sands is managed by Troon, a prominent name in the golf industry headquartered in Scottsdale, Arizona. Troon oversees more than 900 locations worldwide, including numerous golf courses and hospitality venues, further enhancing the resort’s standing as a leading destination for golf enthusiasts.
