News Summary

The Indiana Fever has signed Australian forward Chloe Bibby to a seven-day contract to fill an open roster spot amid salary cap constraints and the absence of Caitlin Clark, who is recovering from injury. Bibby recently played for the Golden State Valkyries in the WNBA and has experience competing for Australia in international tournaments. With this signing, the Fever aim to leverage Bibby’s skills as they prepare for their upcoming match against the Chicago Sky.

Indianapolis – The Indiana Fever have announced the signing of Australian forward Chloe Bibby to a seven-day contract, effective July 25, 2025. This move comes as the team looks to fill an open roster spot while dealing with salary cap constraints and the absence of star player Caitlin Clark, who is currently recovering from a right groin injury.

Bibby was most recently a player with the Golden State Valkyries, where she had two separate stints during the 2025 WNBA season. Initially signed by the Valkyries, she played in a total of five games after re-signing with the team on June 15, but was waived on June 30. In the two games she participated in during the preseason, Bibby averaged 5.0 points and 1.5 rebounds.

During her second stint with Golden State, she improved her performance, averaging 6.4 points and 2.8 rebounds per game. Her standout performance occurred on June 19 against the Fever, where she scored 12 points and recorded three rebounds and one assist over a span of 24 minutes.

In addition to her WNBA experience, Bibby has represented Australia on the international stage. Earlier in July, she contributed to the Australia Opals’ victory at the 2025 FIBA Women’s Asia World Cup, where she averaged 8.0 points and 6.2 rebounds throughout the tournament. Her impressive performance during the 2022 FIBA World Cup in Sydney also helped the Opals secure a bronze medal.

Before joining the professional leagues, Bibby had a successful collegiate career, playing for Mississippi State and later Maryland. During her final two seasons, Bibby averaged 13.2 points and 11.9 points per game, earning second-team All-Big Ten honors in 2022 and an honorable mention in 2021.

The seven-day contract structure allows WNBA teams flexibility in roster management without committing to a full-season deal. Players can sign up to three of these contracts with a single team, with the potential to be signed by multiple teams during that timeframe. This arrangement suits both Bibby and the Fever as they adjust to current roster challenges.

With Bibby now on the roster, the Fever are looking ahead to their next game against the Chicago Sky on July 27, 2025, at 3 p.m. ET at the United Center. The Fever aim to leverage Bibby’s experience and skill as they continue to navigate the demands of the grueling WNBA season.
