In his second game, Flagg scored 31 points, matching John Wall for the most points ever scored by a No. 1 pick in Summer League history.

This year’s Summer League generated considerable buzz among fans and analysts, showcasing rookies who were eager to prove themselves ahead of the 2025-26 NBA season. In addition to Flagg, the event featured numerous standouts, including Dylan Harper, the No. 2 pick, who scored 16 points in just 20 minutes of action for the San Antonio Spurs.

Nique Clifford of the Sacramento Kings made a significant impression during the Summer League, averaging 18.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. His shooting was particularly stellar, with 53% accuracy from beyond the arc. Meanwhile, Liam McNeeley of the Charlotte Hornets showcased his all-around game with 22 points, 12 rebounds, and 6 assists, surpassing his previous college career high for rebounds.

Cooper Flagg continued to demonstrate remarkable potential as he led the Summer League in usage rates, revealing hints of his skills as a point forward. Tre Johnson of the Washington Wizards also distinguished himself, achieving a remarkable 69% shooting percentage on two-point attempts and hitting 5 of 11 from three-point range.

Yang Hansen, a 7-foot-1 rookie from China selected as the No. 16 pick, impressed observers with 15 assists and an average of 2.3 blocks per game, further highlighting his defensive prowess. Eli John N’Diaye, who signed a two-way contract with the Atlanta Hawks after going undrafted, scored 12 points and grabbed six rebounds before a wrist injury sidelined him for the remainder of the event.

Jeremiah Fears of the New Orleans Pelicans experienced a resurgence after a slow start, finishing with 22 points in a strong performance against the Oklahoma City Thunder. Another noteworthy player was Kyle Filipowski of the Utah Jazz, who emerged as the leading scorer during the Summer League with an average of 29.3 points per game, underscoring his offensive capabilities.

Despite the excitement, the Summer League also saw its share of incidents. Darius Bazley of the Los Angeles Lakers put together strong performances but suffered a concerning injury during a game against the Boston Celtics. After collapsing while driving to the basket, Bazley was taken off the court in a wheelchair. Though the Lakers did not provide immediate updates on his condition, Bazley averaged 11.2 points and 8.4 rebounds through five Summer League games.

The Summer League was not without thrilling performances, as Bulls guard Jahmir Young broke through for 40 points and Cleveland’s Tyrese Proctor tallied 35 points in standout showings. Rookies like James Bouknight and Kon Knueppel also shone bright, contributing significantly to their respective teams.

This year’s NBA Summer League served as a vital platform for rookies to exhibit their skills and prepare for the regular season following the recently concluded draft.
